The Think-tank for National Self-determination, Inc. (TNS), founded in 1994, sponsors original research on national self-determination. That includes related questions such as imperialism and the imperial tendencies of some populous independent states originally organized by the conquest of two or more nations or peoples by an imperial power. TNS research aims to educate the public on national self-determination as a right of every nation. It is a right which we Americans exercised in a conscious and deliberate act of national self-determination on July 4, 1776, thereby setting an example for oppressed nations around the world. As of 2002, there are some 148 nations or peoples each with a population of two million or more (rounded to the nearest million) that do not have their own independent states.
The right of nations to national self-determination is recognized in the United Nations Charter. We believe that the world will be more peaceful when every nation has its own independent state, if that is its wish. Our ideal is a world of free and internally democratic Nation-states cooperating with each other in their own interests and for the common good of all.
TNS was founded in 1994 as a non-profit
corporation with U.S. 501(c)3 tax deductible status. Internationally,
it is a non-governmental organization (NGO). for contributions.
